The GLF formed in the aftermath of the seminal 1969 Stonewall Riots in Manhattan, and included influential activists such as Marsha P. Johnson and Silvia Rivera. The group fought against sexual and gender oppression, as well as voicing support for the Black Panther Party and colonized peoples abroad.
